We are looking to hire a full time Landfill Technician, at our depot in Garvagh.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Operating heavy plant equipment such as Digger, Dozers, Bomag Compactor, Excavators, Dump trucks and other related equipment necessary to facilitate the day-to-day operations at the landfill site.
- Perform duties to dispose of non -combustible/non- recyclable waste materials at the landfill site.
- Spread and compact layers of waste
- Observe waste to identify hazardous material or substances excluded from deposit at the landfill site and report to the Landfill manager.
- Perform routine checks on machines to ensure machines are in proper working order and report immediately any issues to Landfill Manager.
- Where applicable, provide minimal maintenance of various landfill equipment/machines.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and company obligations, & Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times to a high standard.
- Paperwork – register, log and report on waste received at landfill on all relevant IT software as applicable.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Ensure all Machines on site comply with the relevant H&S standards and company standard operating procedures.
- Always apply Manual Handling techniques.
- Any other reasonable duties as delegated by the Landfill Manager.

Essential Criteria
- Must have a valid licence/certificate and have at least 2 years’ experience of operating one of the following machines: Digger, Dozers, Bomag Compactor, Excavators, Dump truck
- Confident operating machinery on steep flanks
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- IT Skills- a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Ability to work well on own initiative
- Be self-motivated
- Ability to work well with others
- Flexible approach to work hours
- Willing to work in all weather conditions
- Willing to work under pressure in a busy environment
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience operating machines within a landfill site
- Experience using GPS
