Our ESG strategy is built on three core principals: protect the environment, look after our people and communities, and lead the charge as a responsible, sustainable business. We engaged with our stakeholders to plot a future for RiverRidge that aligns our financial aspirations with our vision and values. Our industry is ever-changing as technology evolves and the economic landscape shifts. By taking a dynamic approach to ESG, our unwavering pursuit of positive advancement is able to flex and move with these changes.
To ensure every principal is addressed, we developed a series of ambitions that we track on a regular basis. In addition to our continual tracking, we publish an annual report documenting our progress against our goals. In doing so, we maintain accountability and transparency. 1 Environment
Protecting the environment and driving the circular economy through innovation.
Through our environmental trust and strategy, we focus on innovation to drive sustainability. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, invest £50 million in advanced waste technologies, and transition our sites to 70% renewable energy. We promote a circular economy by embracing biomethane extraction, fleet electrification, and reducing landfill reliance to under 5%.

Health and safety, employee development, and community impact are hugely important to us. We support inclusivity with flexible policies and career opportunities, doubled training hours, and the development of a new Learning Management System. Through sponsorships, matched giving, and an environmental trust, we invest in our communities while fostering a safe, diverse, and supportive workplace.

Our governance strategy ensures robust oversight, transparency, and sustainability. Led by our ESG committee and Board, we oversee sustainability initiatives and monitor performance. Through ethical supplier engagement and monthly reporting on health, safety, and compliance, we build accountability, foster trust, and incentivise greener practices across our operations and supply chain.
