Here at RiverRidge, we are proud to support youth employability, and recently welcomed Engineering Apprentice, Josh Graham to the company.
Through his experience with RiverRidge, Josh will gain invaluable experience and the skills required to complete his current Level 3 NVQ in Engineering, before progressing to his Level 4.
Find out more about Josh below:
When did you begin your apprenticeship with RiverRidge?
I started with RiverRidge on Friday 4th August.
How did you secure your apprenticeship?
I saw the advert online and submitted an application, before being called for interview, which I was successful in.
What has been your experience to date?
It’s been good. Everyone has been great, friendly and very supportive!
What does a typical day involve?
I normally begin with assessing whatever job I’ll be starting that day. That’ll mean measuring, cutting and grinding, depending on how big a job it is. That will just continue throughout the day until the job is finished.
What is the best thing about your apprenticeship?
I get the opportunity to work around my college work with hands-on and real on-the-job experience.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship with RiverRidge?
Yes, definitely!
Where would you like to be in five years’ time?
I would like to be a fully qualified Engineer.
What made you apply for RiverRidge for your apprenticeship?
I had heard of the company before, then when I saw the advert on Facebook, it encouraged me to apply.
What has been your biggest achievement since starting your apprenticeship?
I have started to get a great insight into the workings of the waste industry. Beforehand, I’d just thought that skips were just boxes with rubbish in them. Now I know it’s a bit more complicated than that.
What has been your biggest challenge since starting your apprenticeship?
Learning how to measure a Roll-On container before fitting a new door to it.
I haven’t quite mastered it yet, but I’ll get there.
Thank you to Josh for chatting to us!
