RiverRidge owns and operates its own landfill. The site comprises a fully licenced and engineered landfill which is continuously audited by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. As an engineered landfill, the company is responsible for capture and careful management of any leachable liquids (known as leachate) that percolate down through the landfill, as well as any gasses that are emitted up through the landfill. The landfill itself is designed and constructed with a robust liner as well as a number of drainage and engineering layers.
