Skip Guide

Skips provide a more robust means of collecting business and household waste. At RiverRidge, we offer a variety of skip sizes which can be used for different waste streams. Please see our Skip Guide for more information.

Mini Skip

Mini skips are ideal for smaller domestic jobs – a bathroom refurbishment, a garden clearance, or a garage clear-out where the waste won’t fill a full builders skip. Compact enough to sit on a driveway without taking over the space, they handle the typical output of a DIY weekend or a light home improvement project without the cost of a larger container.

Builders Skip

Builders skips are the most versatile skip in the range and the most commonly hired across Northern Ireland – used by trade and domestic customers alike. They’re well suited to house extensions, shopfits, kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, garden landscaping, and light demolition work, comfortably handling mixed construction waste including rubble, timber, plasterboard, and general site debris. If you’re not sure which size you need, a builders skip is usually the right starting point.

Maxi Skip

The 12-yard maxi skip is our largest standard skip and the right choice when a builders skip won’t cut it – full house clearances, large-scale refurbishments, commercial fit-outs, significant landscaping projects, and substantial demolition jobs where volume of waste is the primary consideration. It handles the full range of construction and commercial waste, and is available in an open or covered configuration – the covered option being particularly important for plasterboard disposal, which must be kept separate and protected from other waste streams to meet current environmental regulations.

Builder's Roll-On Roll-Off

Roll-On Roll-Off skips are designed for high-volume, ongoing commercial use on active construction and demolition sites – and they work differently from a standard hire skip. Rather than a one-off collection, ROROSs operate on an exchange basis: when the container is full, we collect it and drop a fresh one, keeping your site clear without interrupting your programme. Available in low-sided and high-sided configurations, they handle bulk demolition waste, excavation material, commercial strip-outs, and large-scale construction debris at volumes that would take multiple maxi skips to manage. If your site is generating waste daily, a RORO is almost always the more practical and cost-effective solution.

30 Yard Roll-On Roll-Off

The 30-yard RORO is built for the most demanding commercial and industrial projects – large-scale demolition, major site clearances, industrial strip-outs, and high-volume construction programmes where waste accumulates faster than a standard builders RORO can handle. Operating on the same exchange model, it’s the natural step up when volume is the overriding factor and multiple smaller containers would create more logistical problems than they solve. For projects generating waste at even greater volume, our 40-yard RORO is also available – speak to our team and we’ll advise on the right container size and exchange frequency for your programme.

40 Yard Roll-On Roll-Off

The 40-yard RORO is the largest container in our range and the right choice for the most ambitious commercial and industrial projects – major demolition programmes, large infrastructure works, industrial site clearances, and any operation where waste volume makes a smaller container a false economy. It handles the full spectrum of commercial waste streams: mixed construction debris, bulk timber, scrap metal, large commercial fit-out material, and heavy excavation waste. If you’re working at this scale, our team will assess your site’s access requirements and exchange frequency before you commit – getting those details right at the start saves significant time and cost over the life of the project.

Lockable Skip

A lockable skip is the right choice when site security or location makes an unsecured container a liability. Available across a range of sizes, they’re particularly well suited to town centre sites and high-footfall locations where fly-tipping and unauthorised access are a genuine operational risk, as well as commercial premises handling sensitive waste streams such as food waste, confidential material, or specialist commercial refuse. If you’re unsure whether a lockable skip is the right call for your site, our team will advise

Every week, we collect over 25,000 bin bags, averaging about 1.3m a year.
